A 15-minute onboarding film for a global outdoor and lifestyle retailer, built from 30 interviews shot on location and held together by a single glowing thread.
A company too big for any one employee to see all of
The company runs multiple brands across dozens of departments, and most people will never set foot in the functions that shape the product before or after their own. The film had to carry all of that in 15 minutes without turning into a training module.
Information was the easy half. The harder job was making someone finish the film knowing their work matters to people they have never met.
One glowing thread, running the length of the film
Seven chapters could easily have read as seven separate videos. The thread weaves through every transition, wraps around live footage, and closes the final chapter back on the first.
That single line carries the argument. Everyone works on the same product journey, including the people who never see each other do it.

The thread doubles as the film’s progress indicator
Concept, camera, cut, composite
Worked with the company to shape the concept and lock a seven-chapter structure covering the full path from concept to consumer.
Filmed every interview on location across brands and departments, so the cast reflects the actual company rather than a curated handful of it.
Combined original interviews with existing brand assets and built the seven-chapter spine before any effects work started.
Designed and animated the thread, transition screens, and chapter cards across the full 15 minutes.
Every board carried the line before a single frame was shot, so each setup was composed knowing where the thread would travel through it. That saved the compositing stage from fighting footage that was never framed for it.

Concept and storyboard came out of working sessions with the client team. From there I led production, editing, and motion design through to the final cut.

What came back after the first screening
This is perfect. Literally perfect. It’s exactly what we need.Company executive
It’s inspiring and human-first. We truly met our goal.Project stakeholder
The response was strong enough that the CEO widened the rollout past onboarding and put the film in front of the whole company, which turned a training piece into something closer to a company-wide moment.
